Xato has release an interesting paper on the relevance of the IIS hardening document that were release by NSA. Once again it proves that you should not rely on a single source of information, if you do, then ensure that it is right. The documents from NSA still provides a very good basis but they are not the only resource in securing your IIS server.

CASPR is another great project that CCCure.Org is proud to support. It is an open initiative to produce security practices for the benefit of all. The project need your help.
A new category has been created under the download section called "CASPR", you can find a .pdf document in there describing the project or you can visit the project web site at the address listed below.
CASPR stands for Commonly Accepted Security Practices & Recommendations and that is what this project is currently creating. The goal of the project is to take the worlds subject matter experts in Information Security and distill their knowledge into a series of papers that are freely available on the Internet to everyone. Using the OpenSource movement as a guide the papers will be developed and released under the GNU Free Document License to make sure that they and any derivates remain freely available. Security consulting and research firm @Stake Inc. has discovered
a security flaw within Microsoft's Outlook and Outlook Express
E-mail applications. The vulnerability concerns the use of
Outlook's vCards, or virtual business cards, which can fall
victim to a buffer overflow attack or contain code that can
attack a user's system.
VCards can be created with malicious code that can either cause Outlook to crash, or even allow the E-mail application to run
damaging code on a victim's system.
